Matthew Zaragoza-Watkins is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Vanderbilt University, and a faculty affiliate in Climate Studies and Data Science. His research focuses on the design and performance of electricity, energy and GHG policies, evaluating the impacts on individuals, firms and the environment. Professor Zaragoza-Watkins earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He previously served in senior policy roles at the Environmental Defense Fund, where he advised policymakers in India on the design of regional emissions markets for air particulates and China’s National Development and Reform Commission on their GHG policy framework, and the California Air Resources Board, where he worked to implement the state’s landmark GHG cap-and-trade program.
