Cambridge, Massachusetts–FutureTech lab at MIT’s Sloan School of Management announced today that Guy Ben-Ishai, the former Head of Economic Research at Google and Chief Economist at the New York State Attorney General’s Office, is joining the lab as a Senior Fellow.
The appointment comes as FutureTech expands its research agenda on the impact of artificial intelligence on markets, public policy, and economic growth. Having held senior leadership roles in both the technology sector and government, Ben-Ishai adds depth and vision that will help advance this effort.
“We are thrilled to welcome Guy to our lab’s leadership group,” said Neil Thompson, who directs the FutureTech research project. “Guy brings policy insight and strategic understanding at a moment when research on the impact of AI is becoming increasingly important. His prior work has been at the center of major discussions about the opportunities and limits of technology, and his perspective will be invaluable as FutureTech expands its work in this area.”
“At a historic moment shaped by profound technological advances, I’m excited to join an exceptional group of researchers whose work is already shaping our understanding of technology,” said Ben-Ishai.
FutureTech is an interdisciplinary group that studies the foundations of progress in computing: what are the most important trends, how do they underpin economic prosperity, and how can we harness them to sustain and promote productivity growth.
